چکیده

This paper presents Scribe, a large-scale event notification infrastructure for topic-based publishsubscribe applications. Scribe supports large numbers of topics, with a potentially large number of subscribers per topic. Scribe is built on top of Pastry, a generic peer-to-peer object location and routing substrate overlayed on the Internet, and leverages Pastry’s reliability, self-organization, and locality properties. Pastry is used to create a topic (group) and to build an efficient multicast tree for the dissemination of events within a topic with a potentially large set of subscribers (members). Scribe provides weak reliability guarantees, but we outline how an application can extend Scribe to provide stronger ones. Simulation results, based on a realistic network topology model, show that Scribe scales across a wide range of topics and subscribers per topic. Also, it balances the load on the nodes while achieving acceptable delay and link stress when compared to IP multicast.

Decentralized Publish-Subscribe System to Prevent Coordinated Attacks via Alert Correlation

We present in this paper a decentralized architecture to correlate alerts between cooperative nodes in a secure multicast infrastructure. The purpose of this architecture is to detect and prevent the use of network resources to perform coordinated attacks against third party networks. By means of a cooperative scheme based on message passing, the different nodes of this system will collaborate ...

A content-based publish/subscribe framework for large-scale content delivery

The publish/subscribe communication paradigm has become an important architectural style for designing distributed systems and has recently been considered one of the most promising future network architectures that solves many challenges of content delivery in the current Internet. This work is concerned with scaling decentralized content-based publish/subscribe (CBPS) networks for large-scale...

Security Issues and Requirements for Internet-Scale Publish-Subscribe Systems

Publish-subscribe is a communication paradigm that supports dynamic, many-to-many communications in a distributed environment. Content-based pub-sub systems are often implemented on a peer-to-peer infrastructure that enables information dissemination from information producers (publishers) to consumers (subscribers) through a subscription mechanism. In a wide-area pubsub network, the pub-sub se...
